Christmas is coming. I love it.
Yet, sometimes we get so caught up in what we are expected to do we forget what the season is all about. We find ourselves overwhelmed with material things, stress to have everything ' just so' and race through social obligations we host and attend for the wrong reasons.
After a wee break I stepped back into the studio today for a yoga class and I realized what I had been missing these past two busy weeks. Yes I had done sun salutations and flows when I felt stiff, but I did not practice alone and still my mind at all like I am able to do in a good class. As with any learning experience, finding the right teacher and class fit is crucial.
For me the first time I stepped into a class at Arise Yoga I knew I was meant to learn from Lisa Dumas at this point in my life. I felt so at peace and soothed by the energy, her strong voice and her challenging class was enough to quiet my mind and push me into a new level of fitness that I needed to get me feeling like I could take on the world again.
This is the Wild Thing pose and one of my favourite heart opening postures. Man I miss summer!
