All the seasons have their perks and special beauty but all and all I am a summer girl. I love sundresses and flip flops the beach and the lake, I love warm starry nights, eating outside al fresco, campfire cuddles, not doing my hair, paddling, swimming, swinging in a hammock in the shade. Already the days are getting shorter and a hint of fall is in the air. This weekend was our final summer spell before the boys start back at school tomorrow morning.
Yesterday Ry and I hit the beach and floated in tubes and he lept off the dock into the minnow filled water over and over while I treaded water and cheered him on. Then we layed on the blanket and munched cheesies and talked about six year old stuff for a while before he happily played wasp hunter for a good hour and I contemplated life. Once home we realized it was the last day for our little community pool in the park made last minute plans with his best buddy next door and his Mom and rolled down to enjoy the last hour or so of carefree pool fun compliments of the lifeguards and the shallow pool. Back down on my blanket to lay listening to them play and easy conversation with my lovely friend and neighbor. I came home and made a late dinner and not much else besides getting everyone to bed. Since our little fender bender my neck has been so sore and my head off so a relaxing day was just what I needed.
This morning I was lucky enough to have my chiropractor to slip me in for a treatment and the adjustment did wonders. Elliot and James at Arise Chiropractic are my go to guys and I highly recommend their progressive outlook on wellness, they take care of all of us. After that we headed to Atlantis Waterslides to use up our passes and treat the boys to a day of silly sliding.
Blanket on the grass, a cooler of random snacks and drinks, 31 degrees and a nice breeze, music and slides make for easy parenting. I had a great time watching the boys, playing in the pool with them, riding a couple easy slides with Ryan, catching up with some friends I hadn't seen in ages who we ran into and then noshing blueberries and working on my art journal. Serious luxury for me after a couple of too chaotic weeks of summer and I loved every moment except for getting stung on the arch of my foot by a wasp that flew into my flip flop! It was puffy and annoying but there are so many other places to get stung that would have been much worse so with my track record lately I thanked my lucky stars it wasn't my nose or eye or tongue like a friend got recently!
Home again late without dinner plans but luckily I had some roasted carrots, corn, peppers leftover, some farm fresh field tomatoes to slice and salt, had grand success searing chicken breasts in coconut oil (they brown perfectly) and make a quick teriyaki chicken and a pot of rice. The boys loved it and my thrown together dinner got rave reviews and my heart was glad. Feeding people makes me abnormally happy, I think it's my Polish roots.
Anyways, after all my heavy hearted posts and thoughts lately I am so thrilled to have had these last days of summer bliss with the boys. I am sure that was all rather boring to read but I am grateful you stick by me through highs and lows and wanted to show you I am not all doom and gloom. Thank-you to everyone who sent me kind personal messages, I LOVE hearing from you and always value your thoughts.

So officially summer is over but nothing makes me happier than a Indian Summer. Last September was absolutely gorgeous and I have my fingers crossed this will be the same. We even paddled the quiet sparkling lake waters up to Thanksgiving Weekend...now that is a something to be thankful for.
