Much of my work time now sadly is spent sitting on my ball chair editing images, writing, taking tutorials, networking and reading with a good dose of facebook and Pinterest procrastination. It's not ideal but it's how it is for now and I am grateful on a daily basis that I can do it from home.
The gym membership and daily visit is not for me at this stage of my life...driving into town to do exercises I could do here at home just doesn't make sense. Cardio machines are no match for a good dose of nature... I'd snowshoe, nordic ski, hike, bike, play tennis, run around the park with the boys, paddleboard or even jog before I would feel tempted to hit a indoor machine. Luckily we live in the country and I just have to step outdoors for a little sanity and sweat otherwise I'm sure I'd be a gym lover. If I could afford it I would also happily hit the yoga or pilates studio lots and lots or even do martial arts but all those options are not in the cards time wise or pocketbook wise these days and that's okay.
Lately besides the basic planks, push ups, dips and other regular little numbers I do in attempts to one day rock a Brazillian butt and six pack I sometimes use my hubbie's crazy Bowflex type machine and I LOVE mini workouts from Pinterest.
A couple times a day I flick something on and do a mini workout video to make myself work a tad harder than I would be doing the daily exercises on the bedroom floor.
Tracy Anderson trains Gwenyth Paltrow, Maddonna, Jennifer Lopez and other ladies over thirty-nine who I would like to look like. Her videos are no nonsense which I also like. For some strange reason she freaks my hubbie out ...which means I don't get harassed in my efforts. Yes, I know I probably look like a dork bustin out the moves in my kitchen but I'm okay with that.
This arm workout will make you whimper the first time...it's a hurts so good kind of pain. Work through it and it passes quickly...LOVE it! Plus after working out on the computer it gets all the stiffness out of my neck, shoulders and back, or perhaps the muscle burn just masks it! I have been doing lots of pushups, dips and other arm exercises for a while and I find this routine targets lots of tiny muscles that get missed by the standard arm workouts. I don't want bulky biceps, I want ripped, lean ballet arms.
Tracy also designed a great 15-minute workout for Goop except that I have been liking except I don't have room to do it in the kitchen. You have to use a mat in a roomy spot for the amazing leg kicks section she put together.
Want to try? You can watch it here via my fitness love... pinboard. There are lots more too...fifteen minutes here and there, every little bit helps.
Hope you enjoy these little workout gems too. In the winter I'm often chilled and long for heavy comfort foods and soups that are often not healthy so I should be doing one of these little dittys every hour on the hour! Today I ate a crepe for every meal...nutella for breakfast, baked apples for lunch and a raspberry crepe for desert after dinner, no joke. PMS, stress and Old Man Winter are killing my food willpower. Plus I've been baking the most decadent treats and of course noshing them often. Now I have to start reading all my Pinterest pins on healthy eating and taking care and get a grip on this lapse of eating insanity!
