Autumn is my busy season. Work-wise it's the best time for family photos so I am shooting and editing as much as I can. It's also harvest time and I am also canning and preserving for the winter. Local apples are now three pounds for a dollar, I picked plums from friends trees for free and some pears. Soon it will be our annual salsa day. We'll pick the last of the tomatoes and peppers from the fields and last year they were only 30 cents a pound. It ends up being a full day of work but so worth it and always pretty fun family time. We give lots of 3 Boys Salsa for gifts so it's a good way for our boys to be involved in giving back.
Here is a bit of the production line lately...peach jam, some pears and two types of plum jam. The rest is already tucked away in the cupboard and the freezer...and any neighbour who pops by usually walks away with a jar or two.
The Okanagan weather this year has been so mild and dry allowing for lots of playing outside. Ry pops out to the deck several times a day to do a few loops on his beloved tricycle. He also will gladly ride as a passenger when there is a friend willing to pedal like Sophie....
Texting and driving, and certainly drinking and driving are not allowed but driving with an ice cream cone in hand is perfectly accepted in these parts. Ry has some pretty sweet friends. Watching five year olds play is adorable and often hilarious.
Back to work for a bit but I'll try to share some more when I get a chance. I am very excited to tell you about my latest read...it one of those books I'll have to buy as I'm destined to read it over and over. Tomorrow I'll be announcing another great contest for Eco-Friday so be sure to check back.
