This past Monday Noah and strolled around side streets while heading for the wharf and Peak's Quay in Charlottetown, and look what we found...
Young FOLK & The Kettle Black is my dream coffee shop.
original local art, fresh & funky decor, environmentally friendly products,
and tons of seating, the first image was downstairs, one of the many table, there is a cute little outdoor garden to sit in as well as the whole upstairs that is shown in the photo above. Tons of seating and places to tuck away with your peeps...and a brilliant little place to tuck in your little peeps while you enjoy.
No shop or cafe that hopes to make moula and avoid destruction should be without a place for kiddos to play. It was the smartest thing we ever when we opened our store in Kelowna years ago...happy kids makes happy Moms who stay and spend. This was taken later in the day when Ry joined us and we were walking back and stopped in for another round Young FOLK & the kettle black.
I didn't get a very good shot of the main counter but you get the just of it...besides amazing brews they had lots of yummy artisan sandwich choices and fresh baked pastries (unlike the generic factory made, plastic wrapped goodies Starbucks now serves, I liked it better when they had different stuff at each location that were locally made) and tarts.
I'm always a little embarassed talking photos of baking but I have a sweet tooth and appreciate all the work and ingredients that go into good baking. Noah and I walked away with one treat to enjoy by the ocean...
Hummmmm...what could it be??? It was a tough decision but we decided on....
a little raspberry mango mouse cake...how pretty is that?
Pretty delicious as well. Lucky for me I have a ravenous clan who quickly devour things after I've had a little nibble and give them the get go. By no means am I a Saint though when it comes to saying no to sweets, I had an alterior motive...a homemade ice cream cone at Cows was on the agenda for later that day!
Luckily we did lots or walking...it's hard not to when everywhere you look there are charming spots like this to explore?
Ah, the West Coast will always be my home but there is something pretty special about the East Coast.
later friends,
oxo
p.s. as I am technically on holidays, all images will be straight out of the camera without the grace of photoshop...hope you don't mind ;)
