Today it is Liam's "school" birthday party. His actual day lands during summer holidays so the teacher lets them celebrate on an alternate day.
WISH I could say I whipped 30 of these up last night to bring for all the kids...I had good intentions. My darling boy decided he didn't want cupcakes though as a friend has a wheat intolerance and would be sad not to have one....so he asked for chocolate pudding cups! Yippee for me...how easy is that? A pudding cup with a raspberry on top or each kiddo is the plan, opening up approximately two hours of time for moi last night to finalize paint picks.
I am 99.5 % it's going to be Tapestry Beige (OC-32) for the main colour now. Also decided on a soft acidy green for Liam's room called Henderson Buff (HC-15). I have a similar colour called Fava Bean on an accent wall here now and love it. After musing long and hard on feature walls for Birch Hill, I have decide to hold off until we get settled. Colour pops will come in the form of accessories for now.
The fun doesn't stop with Liam's school treat today...we are also starting a Father's Day project with the grade one kids and kindies. We will be painting big glass steins for Dad. Next week is their Father's Day Rodeo and the Dad's will be sipping Root Beer Floats out of their new cups. We did the same project for Noah's class five years ago when he was a kindie and I still see Dad's using their steins sometimes when visiting friends, it's awesome. Simple instructions and photos to follow.
A whole afternoon at school means a busy morning of getting organized for the craft, catching up on house work and a whack of calls for Birch Hill.
"To granite or not to granite, that is the question" of the day. $2400 will give us a nice sparkly chunk of vanilla toned Bianco Romano for the island. We picked out a slab on the weekend but I haven't quite made the big leap to committing with a deposit. There is also a possibility of a change order fee and materials re-stocking charge with our cabinet shop so I am waiting to hear what that might be. That extra money will probably be the deciding factor. Keeping my finger's crossed.
If you want to make lovely cupcakes like the photo above, take a boo at the PaperOrchid web shop. Laser cut cupcake wrappers take little cakes to a whole new level of beauty. They almost look too good to eat...
the keyword being almost.
