Winter was not welcomed by me this year...I denied it as long as possible wearing flip flops, rejecting jackets and finding sunny spots on walks and being still soaking up the warmth like a cat. Well now it's December and reality has hit!
The snow has fallen and stayed and yet another year I wondered as I hung the Christmas lights and decorated the porch why I waited till it was bitter cold. So, I might as well embrace it and enjoy till spring returns. Ryan is over the moon excited about Christmas and some decorations have come out and Buddy the Elf on the Shelf who lives with us is up to his nightly mischief. I do love Christmas and all that comes along with it...the music, sitting by the tree quietly at night while everyone sleeps, making treats and presents and sharing what I can with friends and loved ones.
I usually treat myself to the Starbucks Holiday CD as I am obsessed with music playing when I am busy at home...now luckily there are lots of online sites with playlists to enjoy like Songza and my latest addiction 8tracks...you can take my link on the left to listen to my creations so far and I am will share some holiday gems later.
For now I wanted to share this amazing version of Little Drummer Boy by Pentatonix I happened upon...
What a lovely mix of people and voices...I am sure it will become viral as it's pretty special.
In first year university I was in a new province and didn't get into residence so I was living far from school alone in a very interesting rooming house....weekly rentals make for interesting housemates. Frosh week was a challenge for me being a shylock so I only met a couple friends. I fondly remember being invited by them to a big slumber party at the girls residence and midway through the night a bunch of boys showed up dressed very handsome. It was such a Glee moment. One of them was my new friends boyfriend...they lined up and began to sing for us and it was such a beautiful gesture and my first acapella experience that wasn't a bunch of men in red striped shirts or Fonzy- like dudes on Sha Na Na. Man I liked watching that show with my Grandpa when I was a kid! Anyways, I had sort of forgotten that memory and I am grateful for this video to bring me back, it was a pretty cool experience and some of those nice fellows became mountain biking and skating buddies that long cold Halifax winter at Dalhousie and I will always remember the small group of people I befriended that lonely year.
Hope you enjoy Pentatonix version of Little Drummer Boy, and I need to stop daydreaming and hustle as a dear friend of mine are taking off very last minute tomorrow morning to see Pearl Jam in Vancouver and enjoy some girl time at The Four Seasons Vancouver with another friend who is joining us.
