"...let us realize our dreams, do not kill them."
A passionate plea put forth by Nada al-Ahdal from Yemen.
Eleven years old and so brave. Look into this little girls eyes and feel her passion as she shares her truth. The sad truth so many young girls face in the Middle East. She fled her family to seek refuge with her Uncle from an arranged marriage.
We have so much freedom her in North America, we wed who we choose and move in and out of marriages as we grow and sometimes sadly transition away from the love that first brought us to our partners. We don't know otherwise. It's almost impossible for me to imagine marrying off an eleven year old child and watching my baby be forced to be in a situation that would be sickening and illeagle in our society. Pray for these girls and pray for change. So many of them are choosing death instead of the life they are forced into and we need to help somehow.
My older boys are old enough to understand and empathize with her message and this was an amazing teaching opportunity...about freedoms, our blessings and marriages and how they should look.
p.s. I am catching up with work and hope to share some recent images and happier messages soon, I just really felt compelled to pass along this brave plea.
