On Thursday my Mom gave me a book. It's not my normal type of read lately but I took it for summer, and actually while in Mexico one day by the pool I had forgotten my book I took my Moms and read a few pages and liked it...it was the same book. I need a break at one point Friday so I picked it up to tune out...by Saturday night it was done.
Safe Haven by Nicolas Sparks
The story completely swooped me away. Whenever I could between chores I read like a maniac and hoped it would end how I needed it to. It did not disappoint. It was so good and made me stop and think more than once and I cried at parts throughout. Even some of the words and expressions were things I had heard lately...it's always erie when that happens in a book.
We all loved the Notebook...I wasn't so keen on Dear John but oh Mr. Sparks I did looooove Safe Haven.
I am so glad I read the book before seeing the film and after just watching the trailer I am pretty sure I will be disappointed to see it as a movie. Even my copy of the book had a different image than above...it had the movie image and it sort of bothered me throughout. It is one of my book pet peeves...I will always prefer to have a book with a more generic cover than a movie poster photograph.
I wanted Katie and Jo and of course Alex to look like the author wrote them to be, and how my imagination pictured them to look...real, not like Hollywood perfection.
Anyways, I got past that and devoured every word. Thanks Mom! It was just the type of novel I needed to kick off my summer of getting back to reading after a long break from my love.
p.s. Buy this summer read for your beach back from the Indigo link on my left sidebar. I want to read it quick one more time then I'll be passing it on to a friend.
