Where did summer go? A fall chill is definitely in the air and the aspen leaves are already getting brittle and brown. September means back to school and I despise it.
My older kiddos went back to grade 5 and 9 this week but today was my baby's first day of kindergarten. Now more lazy mornings of jammie cuddles and stories, no more hours of time together solo, and no more of my favourite afternoon walks together to meet his brothers at the bus. Obviously I'm a little sad as most kindie Mammas are but I am determined to keep this post happy so that's it for my boo-hooing and here goes...
My lil Monster was wearing his favourite monster jammies this morning...I had to cut the feet off last winter and they are floods but since he's a skinny guy he's still rocking the size 3! He is doing gradual entry into school and today he just did an afternoon so we had some time to play in the morning and prepare. He filled his monster water bottle and packed up his monter lunch kit with a nice selection of an empty ice cream cone, a bottle of tobasco sauce, some crackers, some chocolate chips and cat treats just incase Chummy decided to visit school. I knew there would be no snack time today so I let him have free reign in the pantry.
Then he got to work to practice printing just in case the teacher asked him to write something. Apparently keeping your tongue out helps with these things.
Once I had a shower and he got dressed it was time to rock out a bit in the backyard....
Of course his guitar was out of tune and he couldn't quite remember the words so this jam session was short-lived.
Ry had a few options for accessories for the first day and these glasses were one of them. He doesn't need glasses but he looked adorable and as usual had fun being a little clown for the camera.
Once Dad was ready to leave with us for school he took a couple pics of me with my sweet Ry-Ry before the tears started at school. I actually did surprisingly well and kept it together until I said good bye and loaded up his kissing hand.
All my boys are thrilled to be back in school and I am happy for them but sometimes I do wish I had it in me to be a good homeschool teacher, they grow up too fast and I like full leisurely days together much better than the afterschool tired kiddo leftovers I'm often left with.
