This is the first Saturday in many that I haven't been doing this...
and this, while looking very goofy...
It was a wonderful summer of shooting with Laureen Carruthers and Brian Reilly and capturing many couples celebrating their wedding days. I've got to admit though I am quite happy to have a Saturday that doesn't involve running around in the hot sun snapping like a maniac.
I have a family booked for tomorrow morning but family sessions and weddings are a completely different story...weddings are a one time shot and it's such a huge responsibility as a photographer.
Being part of a couples special day is such an honor and I relish in getting past the traditional posed images and capturing the little details of the decor and hidden moments between people...playful winks, little hidden hand squeezes, loving eyes, dirty banter and big hugs between the groom and his groomsmen, hearty laughs, genuine smiles and the proud, yet often teary, faces of parents and grandparents.
Those are the raw emotions and gestures that show the real beauty of a wedding for me.
Congratulations to all the newlyweds I've met...marriage is so much more than the vows we might choose to take, it's a lifelong journey that isn't always easy and it's not to be taken lightly but if you find the right person and work hard to honor the promises you made to them it's the greatest gift you'll ever know.
