Just got back from a double feature matinee and saw two of the best films I've seen in a while. The Muppets was a childhood fave of mine, and the new movie did not disappoint at all. It was gloriously cheery and cheesy and full of Muppety beauty and humour.
Jason Segal was adorable and so was Amy Adams as always. My boys were giggling and mesmerized all the way through and I had to stop myself from cheering and singing more than once. The fact that our beloved Jack Black was also in it was the icing on the cake...yay Muppets!
Hugo was the second film we watched (it's only $4.50 for a matinee here and you can watch all four films if you like!) and it was fascinating. Martin Scorses's genius was clear from the start in the filming, stunning sets, music and the emotion...it was breath taking.
Sadly Jude Law was only in the story for a short time but the main character Hugo was played by Asa Butterfield who is impossible not to love. He plays a 12 year old orphan in the 1930's struggling to finish a special project he started with his Dad. Being a Mom to boys I was especially compassionate to his quest I think and on the edge or my seat and brought to tears more than once.
Both were worth paying big screen prices for and are also films I wouldn't mind watching again and again at home.
Check your local listings and go if you can, you won't regret it.
