What in the world is going on? The southern US has been devastated by the deadliest tornado to date, Japan is still reeling and so many places have been effected by natural disasters lately...it's so scary. I honestly can't keep up...next week is elections and I feel horrible uninformed, my weekend homework awaits.
As we don't have TV I don't watch the news, I log on to the Globe & Mail and the Huffington Post when I want to catch up on the real world...sometimes it's nice to be naively ignorant in my little bubble and take in the news as I can handle it. This morning I have been catching up, both boys do a lot of current events at school and it's amazing to have some wise little minds to ponder things with.
Horrible things in other places leave us reeling with shock and helplessness, besides donating to the Red Cross and sending our prayers. The world is such a big place and it's overwhelming to try and absorb all the changes and events...where do we even start?
Being a photographer I am always intrigued by the features by Diane Tuft on the Huffington Report.
"Through my photographs I highlight the power and austerity of nature amidst the ongoing environmental and atmospheric destruction that is taking place globally.
Since 1998, I have been recording the effects of infrared and ultraviolet light on the Earth's landscape. Because infrared and ultraviolet light waves are beyond the visible spectrum, these images appear to be mystical and surreal..." -Diane Tuft
If you have a few minutes the slide show featured in Through My Photographs is absolutely incredible.
It's eco-Friday...sending love to those digging out of natural disaster ruins and sufferring huge loss, love to Mother Earth and respecting her amazing power and beauty.
One of my baby sessions booked for May had a very premature little blessing, Olivia and she's up to 3.5 pounds now. Soon she will be home from the children's hospital and I can't wait to capture her tiny magnificance. I just got my first A Tiny Light Assignment and I am excited to meet little Tucker and his family. I get a free lunch with girlfriends today at a new restaurant opening and the weekend is once again here and promising to be sunny and the Canucks won!
All is not bad, life is beautiful...just complicated.
